Cocktails in Wonderland

So, Champagne season is in full effect and I absolutely love it! For me, this season is an excuse to really go all out at every occasion: metallics to breakfast, sequins to lunch, feathers to brunch, ruffles, fringing and embellishment for when I'm going out-out.

I'm always on the look out for inspiration for ways to mix up my looks for the party season. Regular readers of my blog or if you follow me on social media you will know one thing I don't like to do is to be predictable with my outfits!

Which is why the latest party edit from online fashion store Farfetch.com, is right up my street. Perfectly named Cocktails in Wonderland, they've ditched the predictable LBD-sequin party wear route and opted for bolder silhouettes and opulent fabrics to really make an impact on the dance floor.

Think light-as-air ruffles, embellished dresses and organza frocks all thrown together with gorgeous blush pinks, devilish blacks and glitzy gold. The return of delicious party wear is here!

Grab your hat...

Show me a wool fedora any day – especially one in a bright red hue and I'll snap it up. (Not before trying it on first though). This is exactly what happened when I came across this one in H&M, whilst browsing
(always the way) Ha!

Perfect for those flat hair/bad hair days, and for the drama that comes with this very unpredictable weather that we are currently experiencing. Grr! Seriously, Autumn aka Swinter is just, well a pain! Weather rant over.

So, back to this delightful, and somewhat loud hat...I love it! Here I've styled it with my favourite red suede heels (courtesy of a  very special someone. *Wink*), my beloved ripped knee skinnies (an old pair from Warehouse, I ripped the holes), and an old fave from my kimono collection. Here are the results....

Shout out to my bro Bird_boy for taking these snaps!

How are you dressing for Swinter?

When in doubt, wear stripes

Don't you just love it when you discover photos? I've just found these photos on my laptop, they were taken a few months ago in my favourite tunnel, Leake Street Tunnel, by my uber-cool photographer friend, +Dan Liburd

Who doesn't love stripes? Worn thick or thin, in various colours, directions, thickness and structures, stripes are my go-to whenever I'm feeling a little 'blah'. I love how this shirt is oversized with a 70s vibe. Since I snapped this shirt up from Topshop last year I must admit that I have pretty much lived in it. I've been switching it up though, you know, making it work hard, I've teamed it with ripped skinnies, leather trousers and at times (as I have in these pictures )I have worn it as a 'dress.'

As for these flatforms...well yes, I'm STILL obsessed!

Are are fan of stripes?

Let me know. x

These Streets will make you feel brand new...

I love a good bit of street art! The appeal? The unpredictability, the creativity, the grittiness...and when done well, it really can reach out and er, touch your soul if you know what I mean?
So when my friend Daniel (who happens to also be an amazing photographer), told me about a tunnel that he had recently discovered, packed with the coolest graffiti, well we had to go and check it out and of course dress for the occasion.

The results...

Happy 2015!

I mean, really, it's 2015!!

I do get like this every January, you know, excited but 'nervous', anyone else with me?

Anyway, yesterday, at approximately 12.30, there I was, in bed scrolling through my Instagram feed when I stumbled across a post from my lovely friend Erika. She has posted a photo with the #Day100, part of the #100HappyDay challenge.

For those of you who haven't got a clue what i'm on about, the #100HappyDay challenge is where you post a picture that makes/made you happy that day, for 100 days in a row. It can literally be anything - a picture of shoes you own/swooning over, an inspirational photo or quote, magazines, a great night out with friends, family or that special someone....

Unlike the 71% of  people have taken up this challenge and have failed, due to 'lake of time', my fabulous friend was not one of them. For 100 days she posted a whole bunch of incredibly cute, and tres chic pictures on her instagram.

When I asked her what she got out of it, she said the main thing was a simple reminder of how lucky she is to have the life she has, and the amazing feeling that smallest things can give you pleasure.

This got me thinking, how in this bumpy road called life we are all guilty of forgetting how things could really/have been worse (guilty as charged!) but by simply taking a few minutes out of our super-busy days to remember this, well it really doesn't cost a thang!

So yes, you've guessed it, i've decided I am going to take up the #100HappyDays Challenge.

Today was my first day:

So keep an eye on my instagram: Shoe_na for my #100HappyDays photos.

So, there you go. I don't plan on giving up and if anyone is up for taking on this challenge with me, then please let me know.

Eeek. Wish me luck!
